This past Tuesday Mel Woods passed away while playing basketball with a number of his friends. Mel was a referee for Windsor Minor Football this year. He had a wife and three girls.
This Sunday before each game there will be a moment of silence in honour of Mel. Also all proceeds from 50/50 will be donated to his family.
On November 21, 2010 the Windsor Valiants will also be holding a pasta dinner/silent auction/raffle to assist in the cost of the funeral. The Moose Lodge has donated their building, staff etc. They also need items for the pasta dinner.

Items needed: penne, sauce, butter, buns, medium ground beef and bag salad. Any door prizes would be welcome as well.

WMHA Grad Scores First NHL Goal

Another WMHA Grad has scored his 1st NHL goal. David Liffiton scored his 1st NHL goal tonight vs Columbus. Way to make the WMHA so proud Dave. Matt Martin scored his 1st NHL goal a night earlier.
Who says we just produce "tough guys" Big Bob must be watching down and helping you guys out. Keep up the great work. We ALL at the WMHA are so proud of you both as well as the other WMHA Grads playing in the NHL.

Belle River Minor Baseball is proud to announce that our Registration is open for the 2011 Baseball season.
Our Baseball season has changed a bit this year. We will be having ourOpening Day on May 14th, 2011 and running until our Day of Champs on August 13th 2011 Gyms are going to be starting the 1st week of Nov. Please check the website for gym times.
Registration fees are the same as last year. T-Ball and First Pitch is $80.00. Rookie, Mosquito, Peewee, Bantam and Midget/Junior is going to be $100.00.

Windsor Fighter Josh Taveirne Fights for the Troops

The fights are done and the fighters are back on Canadian Soil. Josh Taveirne from Windsor's Maximum Fitness Centre won his pro debut fight in front of the some 3000 Military Troops from various parts of the world including Canada, United States, Britian. The fights were held in front of the Canada house at the Kandahar Air Field. Congratulations to all the fighters who made the sacrafice to fight in such such a place. London Ontario also sent two fighters Jess Gross and Alex Gasson from MFC's Affilated Club Adrenaline Training Center.

Incredibly, WRECK MMA is off to Afghanistan to put on a show for the Canadian troops. JOSH TAVEIRNE (TEAM MAXIMUM - WINDSOR) was chosen as one of the fighters on the card and being a part of this historic event as being the1st event/mma fight fight in front of the Canadian Troops. Taveirne is accopmanied by other Affiliate fighters Alex Gasson and Jesse Gross of Adrenaline Traing Centre in London. Brent Franczuz was also to take part but because of contractual obligations of the fight this weekend had to pass on this event, butwas greatful to be considered from the start."

Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Wins in Michigan

Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy participated in a tournament held in Walled Lake Michigan named the Michigan Open. The tournament was strictly Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was attended by over 100 children competitors, between the ages of 6 years old to 15 years old.
There were also several Teen and Adult divisions.
The event drew a large spectator audience of over 200 who were entertained by a diverse group of practitioners from Ohio, Michigan and of course, Ontario.
The audience and spectators were treated to bouts between black belts and brown belts as a treat that showed dedication to the art.\r\n\r\nThe following are a list of the Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu participants and there placement at the tournament.
