Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Strikes Gold In Michigan

The Students of the Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy received several awards this past Sunday, December 5 2010, for their hard work from the past year of tournament competition. The awards ceremony and following tournament were held at the Roseville Recreation Centre in Roseville Michigan. The competitors received points for competing in the tournaments, receiving 100 points for a win, 80 points for second or silver, 60 points for third or bronze and 40 points for fourth. Wins are counted as submissions or in accumulated points from various techniques utilized by the competitors. In order to be considered for the championship belts or plaques for second and third, the competitors must compete in a minimum of 2 of the 4 competitions. The points are tabulated for the year and champions receive a belt with their name on it, second place receives a large plaque and third a smaller plaque.

The culmination of a year's worth of competition showed through. Congratulations to all competitors for the hard work and dedication to the sport.

Following the awards ceremony, a tournament for the 2010/2011 season began. Again precious medals made there way back to Canada. A good crowd watched the event unfold with the Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy 12 gold medals, 10 silver and 4 bronze medals.

It should be noted that the Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy also received the Most Supportive School and Largest Youth Team Awards.

The Windsor Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy will be hosting a seminar with Jean Jacques Machado and a tournament is scheduled to take place the following day at the Windsor Fitness and Health Expo. The dates for these events are February 19 and 20, 2011.
